'Mr. Speaker, he [Trudeau] says he wants to bring in a pause for some people in some places. I want to get rid of the tax for all people in all places and forever. Why don't we let Canadians decide?' said Pierre Poilievre in Parliament on Tuesday.
‘There will absolutely not be any other carve-outs or suspensions of the price on pollution,’ Trudeau said. ‘This is designed to phase out home heating oil, the way we made a decision to phase out coal.’
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe pointed out that the tax exemption only applies to home heating oil which is primarily used in Atlantic provinces, leaving many of Canadians without an exemption despite also suffering from high prices.
