The AP gave 'the false impression that Liberty Counsel is a racist, hateful, and dishonest organization. Nothing could be further from the truth,' says Mat Staver.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled Liberty Counsel, whose efforts enabled Kentucky clerk Kim Davis to have an audience with Pope Francis, a "hate group."
The Southern Poverty Law Center is arguing that to claim sexual orientation is changeable and that counseling can help effect such change is inherently fraudulent.
“No one should rely on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s inaccurate and biased data," said Jerry Boykin of the Family Research Council, which was targeted by a domestic terrorist who relied on the SPLC's designation.
“The AFA doesn’t hate anyone,” AFA spokesman Brian Fisher told LifeSiteNews.com in an e-mail. “The real hate in all this debate is coming from the SPLC and is directed toward people of faith. The real hate group here is the SPLC.”
