The US Senate bill has been criticized for rewarding those who nudge people into hospice (by way of palliative care programs) where they are subjected to abuse and, in some cases, assisted suicide.
Democrats say they're committed to voting on the bill later this year, however, and that they're confident it will pass with GOP support, despite its unpopularity with the Republican base.
The Wisconsin Republican now says 'we’ll see what [Democrats] come up with and we’ll see if they can provide adequate protection' for religious liberty.
