Republicans’ narrow failure to override a veto by ‘Catholic’ Gov. John Bel Edwards came after a last-minute attack by left-wing Catholic priests and other religious figures.
Republican state Rep. Jena Powell attached the Save Women’s Sports Act as an amendment to a bill allowing athletes in the Buckeye State to profit off their name and likeness.
Legislation to allow college athletes to profit from their name, image and likeness was amended to include a ban on biological females competing against males.
The ex-quarterback said, 'If I was a true female — I can't believe I'm saying that — and I was competing in weightlifting and lost to this person, I would be beside myself.'
‘I don’t believe there is any fundamental difference between me and the other athletes, and to suggest there is slightly demeaning to them,’ said the 286-pound man.
