The new policy makes clear that students are to be referred to by the proper pronouns and that children who participate in gender-segregated sports and extracurricular activities must take part in the ones that align with their sex.
One student shared how she and ‘half the women’ in her high school avoid going to the bathroom whenever possible ‘because they're afraid of who might waltz in.’
The state has an ‘important interest in protecting the privacy and safety of students,’ Judge David Nye affirmed, adding that ‘the court must stay within its lane’ and avoid becoming ‘a policy-making body.’
More than 300 students had walked out in protest after the Perkiomen Valley School District tabled a policy to restrict bathroom access according to actual sex.
High school student John Ott, who organized the walk-out, told Fox on Monday that the protest took place because 'kids were upset' and they wanted to 'protect' girls who 'didn’t want men in their bathrooms.'
'I find it wrong when you’ve got a 6-year-old kid who has no idea,' said Cooper, who promptly lost a cosmetics deal for his comments. He also criticized allowing men in women's bathrooms, warning, 'Somebody’s going to get raped.'
