The law, passed in the 2011 Legislative Session and deemed a legislative "emergency" by pro-life Texas Gov. Rick Perry, was delayed by a lawsuit by the Center for Reproductive Rights.
“We definitely thought the bill would withstand the scrutiny of the courts,” Texas state representative Sid Miller, the author of the ultrasound law, told LifeSiteNews.
“Florida is moving as a state to recognize the civil rights of the child being carried in a mother’s womb as equal to that of the mother," Rep. Larry Ahern told LSN.
The Alabama Senate has approved a slew of pro-life bills that could mark the greatest step forward in state pro-life law since the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision.
The legislation "bolsters our efforts to protect life by ensuring Texans are fully informed when considering such an important decision," said Katherine Cesinger, Gov. Perry’s spokesman.
