A right to a child?

The argument now is no longer about whether there is such a thing as a right to acquire a child, but whether the state should pay for sex selection in vitro fertilization “treatments” after the couple has already aborted unwanted twin boys.

College football player saves the life of a road maintenance worker with stem cells

There’s an uplifting story in last week’s New York Times about Matt Hoffman, a college football player with Rowan University in New Jersey, who saved the life of a complete stranger in Texas by offering an adult stem cell transplant. The recipient, Warren Sallach, was dying from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma when the National Marrow Donor Program matched Hoffman to Sallach. Hoffman skipped the final game of his junior year to be able to go through with the procedure. After a year of forced anonymity by the donor network, both donor and recipient are now good friends.
