Pro-Lifers Urged to Create Massive March for Life Presence in Lead-up to Health Vote

By Kathleen Gilbert

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 15, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In what may be the final days before the abortion-expanding health care bill is pushed through U.S. Congress, pro-life leaders are issuing a clarion call to all pro-life citizens of America to join the 2010 March for Life in order to deliver to Democrat leaders an unmistakably clear message against the heatlh care bill’s abortion mandate. The March is set to take place next Friday, January 22.

The enormously popular March for Life has memorialized the Roe v.Wade decision each year since 1974. The march regularly draws a vast sea of pilgrimaging pro-lifers (last year’s estimates ranged from 200,000-300,000) and it is considered by many an indispensible demonstration of dedication to the dignity of unborn children and their mothers.

In a new video, pro-life leaders in the Stop the Abortion Mandate Coalition call upon pro-life forces to make their presence felt in the nation’s Capitol as never before – while the biggest threat to the unborn since Roe v. Wade stands on the brink of becoming law.

“The January 22 of this year, 2010, takes on even more importance as Congress prepares to vote on a sweeping takeover of health care that would mandate abortion coverage and mandate government funding of abortion,” say the leaders in the video.

“If Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobbyists are successful at getting their friends in the House, the Senate, and the White House to give them what they want, a massive government-funded bailout, it will result in the largest expansion of abortion since Roe versus Wade,” they continue.

“Millions more babies will be killed, and millions more women will be hurt.”

In response, pro-life leaders are not holding back: the group said they’re calling upon “every pro-life American” to “do whatever it takes to get to Washington” and join the crowd on the National Mall in front of the Capitol Building at noon on Friday, January 22.

The video encourages pro-lifers to spread the word through social networks, phone calls and e-mails and to schedule a personal appointment with their representatives and senators to deliver the message in person: “no abortion in healthcare.”

“This may be our last chance to publicly stand up against abortion in heatlh care,” say the leaders, “and the last chance to let our elected representatives know that America will not stand for this abortion mandate.”
