ANALYSIS

February 15, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Notorious liberal financier George Soros is calling on Europeans to wake up and “mobilize” in order to prevent the European Union from dissolving in the same way the U.S.S.R. did in 1991.

In a hyperbolic opinion piece published Tuesday, the pro-abortion globalist from Budapest claims Europe is currently facing an “inflection point” and experiencing a “revolutionary moment.”

Among other concerns, Soros warns that Europe is “sleepwalking into oblivion” and if nationalist politicians are victorious in the upcoming May elections for the European Parliament, “the dream of a united Europe could become a 21st-century nightmare.”

Soros has long been the subject of criticism from conservatives and pro-life advocates due to his immense liberal influence on world politics.

In recent years, he has been linked to radical organizations like Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and Antifa. During the 2016 presidential election, he was one of Hillary Clinton's largest donors. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused him of being the driving force behind Muslim migration into Europe. Soros has also directly and indirectly interfered in the domestic affairs of Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Colombia, Hungary, Ireland, and the United States, among others.

The 88-year-old’s activism so infuriated actor James Woods last October that the Hollywood veteran called him “satanic” for having “undermined the stability of Western democracies.”

In his widely-read essay, Soros blames everything from populist movements in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and elsewhere to feckless EU leadership, Brexit, and “an outdated party system in most European countries” for creating what he calls a period of “radical disequilibrium.”

“It is difficult to see how the pro-European parties can emerge victorious from the election in May unless they put Europe’s interests ahead of their own,” the billionaire opines.

“The first step to defending Europe from its enemies, both internal and external, is to recognize the magnitude of the threat they present. The second is to awaken the sleeping pro-European majority and mobilize it to defend the values on which the EU was founded.”

Religious institutions such as the Catholic Church have not been immune to Soros’ political machinations either.

WikiLeaks emails reveal Soros spent $650,000 to influence Pope Francis’ September 2015 visit to the United States with the goal of having more American bishops “publicly voice support of economic and racial justice” issues.

Soros has also financed liberal, dissent groups like Catholics for Choice, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, and Catholics United.

Daniel McAdams, executive director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, told LifeSiteNews Soros is worried because he has spent billions of dollars to create a Europe that is free from national identity, religious values, and directly elected government and is now seeing his investment fall flat.

“Meddling in internal affairs and undermining national sovereignty have been two pillars of the worldwide Soros movement, including in the U.S.,” McAdams says. The possibility of the EU being dismantled has left Soros “depressed and desperate.”

“The lesson is that even billions of dollars cannot change human nature. History can be temporarily shaped by such figures as Soros and indeed the post-communist era particularly for Europe could definitely be considered the Soros era. But all of that is coming apart.”

McAdams also believes the strong support for Soros’ “arch-enemy,” Christian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Hungary, is a particular “nightmare” for him, as is the resurgence of Catholic politicians in Poland, the “rebirth” of Christianity in Russia, and the growth of pro-national sovereignty movements in France and Italy.

During an interview with the Washington Post in June 2018, Soros said that in regards to Donald Trump being elected president, “everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.” Such antipathy is perhaps expected considering Soros donated more than $25 million to Democrat politicians during the 2016 election cycle and given that during his presidency, Donald Trump has aligned the U.S. with nationalist movements in Europe while repeatedly railing against open borders and what he calls “the false song of globalism.

Soros, who turns 89 in August, is the founder of the nefarious grant-giving Open Society Foundations, an organization which claims to support humanitarian and democratic initiatives around the world but in reality foments social discord by puppeteering globalist politicians, provoking riots, spreading progressive ideas, and pouring money into abortion groups.

Soros made his fortune as a stock market speculator, pocketing more than £1 billion in one day by short selling the British pound on September 16, 1992.
