LIVORNO, Italy (LifeSiteNews) — An Italian priest has been summarily excommunicated after he declared during a homily that Pope Francis “is not the pope, he’s a usurper.”
In a brief statement dated January 1, chancellor of the Diocese of Livorno Father Matteo Giavazzi informed the diocese that Father Ramon Guidetti had incurred a latae sententiae (automatic) excommunication. The chancellor’s statement read:
“We inform you that Don Ramon Guidetti, priest of the Diocese of Livorno and parish priest of the Parish of San Ranieri in Guasticce, on December 31, 2023, during the Eucharistic celebration, publicly performed an act of a schismatic nature, refusing submission to the Supreme Pontiff and communion with the members of the Church subject to him (can. 751 CIC).”
No details were given in the diocesan decree regarding the action that Guidetti performed.
Continuing, Giavazzi declared Fr. Guidetti was suspended and also removed from his position as parish priest, effective immediately.
“Priests and faithful are warned not to participate in any of his celebrations or other practices of worship, because they would incur ipso facto the very serious penalty of excommunication,” the chancellor closed.
Italian outlet Ansa, however, provided some missing details and reported that Guidetti had declared during his December 31 homily that Pope Francis “is not the pope,” but that he is a “usurper.”
Communist outlet La Stampa added that Guidetti declared Francis is “a Jesuit Freemason” and that “everyone knows that he is not the pope but nobody does anything.”
Guidetti attested that Pope Benedict XVI, who died on December 31, 2022, “never gave up on the Petrine munus” and thus “left this world with everything that belongs to the pope.”
He added that Benedict was “the famous katechon of which we speak in the second letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians, he is the one who held back the mystery of iniquity and then released it because this iniquity had to be revealed.”
Commenting on the excommunication’s incredible speed, Guidetti declared “I am serene and calm,” whilst being “amazed at the speed with which the guillotine cut its umpteenth head.”
According to Ansa, Guidetti’s comments were made on a radio interview conducted by a Palermo priest Fr. Alessandro Minutella, also excommunicated for his attitude towards Pope Francis in 2018.
Regarding his excommunication decree, Guidetti appeared undeterred: “I will make a nice cornice and hang it on the wall and it will be something I will gladly boast about.”
He added that “some bitterness in the heart is there, for this blindness and harshness on the part of the one who should be a mother, the Church. She should be a mother and in reality she is a tyrant.”
The priest stated that he was only informed about the excommunication on January 1, when the diocese sent it to him. However local news outlets report that the bishop, Simone Giusti, had met with Guidetti before Christmas to discuss the priest’s opposition to Francis as pope.
Guidetti’s homily was welcomed by journalist Andrea Cionci, who publicly campaigns to attest that Pope Francis is an “antipope” and that Benedict XVI “was forced out of the way by globalist strong powers with ties to international freemasonry.”
Cionci praised Guidetti for becoming “another priest chose to sacrifice himself and face all the consequences of the case [proving Francis is not pope], losing everything.”
According to Cionci, Guidetti will now join an organization founded by Minutella and will live off donations.
But fellow Italian journalist Antonio Socci, best known for his writings on the third secret of Fatima, disputed Guidetti’s wisdom. “I believe he made a huge mistake and, as a Catholic, as a brother, I hope he realizes this and asks to return to ecclesial communion,” wrote Socci.
“He should take note that Benedict XVI to whom he appeals recognized Francis as pope. It is the Church that defines who the Pope is, not the individual Catholic,” wrote the journalist.
