The Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's newly tabled budget has earmarked an additional $36 million for its Vaccine Injury Support Program, in addition to the $11 million it has already paid out to those hurt by the COVID shots.
The B.C. Civil Resolution Tribunal ruled against the mother who filed a claim seeking just over $3,000 in damages after her two young children were booted from a daycare facility over their vaccine status in 2022.
Ross Wightman of British Columbia contends that the compensation he received from the country’s Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP) is not enough considering he became totally paralyzed and was subsequently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
The purpose of the program is to ‘ensure that all people in Canada who have experienced a serious and permanent injury as a result [of vaccination] have fair and timely access to financial support.’
