CHILLIWACK, British Columbia (LifeSiteNews) — A British Columbia school board apologized for a violent, anti-Christian meme posted by a school trustee.

On July 31, Chilliwack Board of Education chair Willow Reichelt issued an apology on behalf of the school district after trustee Teri Westerby posted a meme depicting “Traditional Family,” “Christian Values,” and the “Sanctity of Marriage” being steamrolled by a rainbow-colored tractor.

“The meme that Trustee Westerby shared on his personal Facebook page was intended to poke fun at online commentators who are upset that the Barbie movie has a feminist message,” Reichelt said in a statement on Facebook.

The since-deleted meme depicted a crowd of screaming people labeled “Traditional Family,” “Christian Values,” “Sanctity of Marriage” and “Etc.” being steamrolled by a crusher painted with the LGBT rainbow. The tractor was labeled “Barbie” in reference to the newly released Barbie movie that conservatives have warned contains pro-LGBT, feminist propaganda.

Reichelt claimed that those who “know the history of the meme” would realize that “the intent is not to advocate crushing traditional values but to point out the absurdity of saying that the Barbie movie has that power.”

“However, if you do not know the meme’s history, it’s understandable that the image could be hurtful,” she stated. “I apologize on behalf of the board for any hurt caused, and I want to offer my assurance that Christians and other people of faith are welcome and supported in this district.”

“The Chilliwack School District embraces families of all religious faiths (and no faith) and recognizes that different families have different values,” Reichelt added. “We strive to create learning spaces where people of all different backgrounds can come together and treat each other with respect.”

Westerby has yet to apologize for the meme. Westerby, reportedly the district’s “first openly trans man” elected to the board, frequently uses her social media platforms to push LBGT ideology.

Ironically, a few days before posting her meme showing no tolerance for Christian values, she complained about not feeling “safe” in a store that sold books exposing transgenderism and supporting the Freedom Convoy.

Westerby is not the only Canadian school board trustee to promote LGBT indoctrination. In May, Waterloo Catholic District School Board trustee Wendy Ashby eventually resigned after more than 3,000 parents called for her removal from the board following the publication of her anti-Christian tweets.

Ashby’s anti-Christian position came to light in mid-April when a tweet surfaced in which the trustee wrote, “The most dangerous creature on the planet is the white Christian male. They’re a threat to anyone that is not them.”
