(LifeSiteNews) — The National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the Biden administration is reportedly set to spend over $3 million to bankroll an expansion of mutilating transgender interventions for minors. The NIH has already paid out nearly $2 million for the project.
The Daily Wire reported Wednesday that the so-called “TRANS-NIH RESEARCH SUPPORT” agreement guarantees $3,266,707 in funding from the NIH to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Corporation, which operates under the business name Boston Children’s Hospital.
The deal kicked off in September 2021 and is set to end August 31, 2023. A total of $1.6 million has already been paid out for the program so far.
As LifeSiteNews has extensively reported, Boston Children’s Hospital has drawn significant backlash for its involvement in promoting and providing destructive transgender interventions for young people and adults.
Daily Wire reporter Spencer Lindquist noted that the NIH program’s “Trans Health Guide” aims to “expand the local workforce of gender-affirming care providers” and “reduce mental health disparities for TGD youth” via “systemic changes that increase access to gender-affirming care.”
Of specific focus under the program are so-called “Transgender and Gender-Diverse” (TGD) “youth of color” across “five southeastern states with large black transgender populations and limited access to gender-affirming care.”
Thanks to the funding, healthcare professionals will be able to use “free training materials on working with transgender and other gender-diverse youth,” Lindquist reported, as well as “gender-affirming medical and mental health care.”
Republican lawmakers blasted the payments in comments to The Daily Wire.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who has repeatedly made headlines for demanding answers from former U.S. COVID czar Anthony Fauci regarding the origins of the coronavirus, slammed the program as “unacceptable.”
“As a senator and a physician, I am deeply concerned about the NIH’s use of taxpayer money to fund dangerous and controversial youth transgender research,” Sen. Paul said. “The well-being of our youth is of utmost importance and subjecting them to harmful and experimental medical procedures is unacceptable.”
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida also condemned the funding of “damaging and irreversible surgeries and hormones” for minors.
“The NIH should not use U.S. taxpayer dollars to encourage or promote transgenderism in children, especially when that means subjecting kids to damaging and irreversible surgeries and hormones,” Rubio told The Daily Wire. “The U.S. government should not overlook or diminish the biological reality that underpins human existence.”
“Promoting transgenderism among children raises significant concerns about their physical, social, and psychological well-being,” he continued. “We must protect the innocence and future of our children.”
The report concerning the NIH program comes as the Biden administration’s secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently threatened to pull Medicare and Medicaid funding from health care providers who refuse to offer mutilating “transgender” surgeries and cross-sex hormones.
“We have issued guidelines that say that a provider who receives Medicare funding, Medicaid funding must be prepared to offer gender-affirming care,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said during the 10th annual Aspen Ideas: Health event, held by the Aspen Institute in late June.
“Where we have laws that require you to fulfill your obligations if you want that Medicaid dollar to come to your state, we’re gonna make sure you check the box,” he said.
As LifeSiteNews has reported, gender clinics across the U.S. actively prescribe puberty-blocking drugs to children and perform surgical interventions for adolescents and adults despite the fact that the procedures are experimental and destructive.
In recent years, rising rates of transgender identification have been met with celebration and adulation in mainstream culture, and rates of surgical mutilation for minors have spiked. In many classrooms, young children are actively being encouraged to deny their biology and adopt divergent gender identities, sometimes leading to irreversible surgeries and drugs.
Moreover, in addition to asserting a false reality that one’s sex can be changed, transgender surgeries and drugs have been linked to permanent physical and psychological damage, including cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, cancer, stroke, infertility, and suicidality. Further, studies indicate that over 80% of children suffering from gender dysphoria outgrow it on their own by late adolescence without surgical or pharmaceutical intervention.
